What a website costs in Kansas City

Website design starts at $499 for a 5 to 10 page site, $999 for 20 to 25 pages, and $1,499 for around 50 pages. Each is a one-time fee with no monthly commitment. Larger builds, ecommerce websites and custom functionality are quoted from the same starting points.

What a website costs in Kansas City
Website sizeOne-time feeWho it fits
5–10 pagesfrom $499Most small business websites. Delivered in as fast as 48 hours
20–25 pagesfrom $999Multi-service or multi-location businesses
Around 50 pagesfrom $1,499Large catalogs, many service areas, or ecommerce

The word “from” is doing real work in that table. These are starting points, not fixed quotes — a 10-page site with a booking system costs more than a 10-page brochure site. The estimator above gives you the starting figure for your size, and the strategy call gives you the exact one.

Every tier includes content writing and three rounds of revisions, and changes after the third round are billed at $50 per hour. A redesign is priced on the same tiers as a new build; the free audit still comes first, so the new site keeps what the old one earned. A site that falls between two tiers is quoted on the free strategy call. Build quality is a commitment too: every site we build is held to a Google PageSpeed score of 90 or higher.

Is $499 affordable? How Kansas City website prices compare

Yes. A custom 5 to 10 page site from $499 costs less than the typical published ranges for professional web design in Kansas City, and about the same as a DIY template site, with the writing done for you. The ranges below are what Kansas City agencies that publish prices list as typical. They are ballpark figures, not quotes, and scope moves every one of them.

Is $499 affordable? How Kansas City website prices compare
OptionTypical published rangeWhat the price usually buys
DIY template website$0 to $500A builder template you set up and write yourself
Agency website packages$1,500 to $8,000Basic to premium packages, from a responsive design with SEO up to ecommerce and ongoing maintenance
Template with professional help$2,000 to $10,000A template site set up with a professional’s help
Custom small business website$10,000 to $50,000A custom design from a full-service agency
Kansas City Web Design Prosfrom $499, $999 or $1,499, one timeA custom design with no templates, content writing and three rounds of revisions

Affordable here does not mean a template. Every tier is designed from scratch and built with on-page SEO in the first draft. When you compare quotes, compare what each one includes, not only the number: ask whether content writing, revisions and support after launch are in the price, or billed later.

What SEO costs per month

Search campaigns start at $499, $999 or $1,999 per month, covering SEO, AEO and GEO. Each monthly SEO campaign is a starting point, because scope, the number of cities and how competitive your category is all move the figure. Search work is monthly because ranking work is monthly. Anyone selling a one-time SEO fee is selling you a report, not a campaign.

What SEO costs per month
PackageMonthlyWhat is included
Starterfrom $499/monthLocal SEO management for a single Google Business Profile. Basic backlinks and guest posts
Standardfrom $999/monthOrganic SEO plus AEO and GEO setup, and Google Business Profile management. 5 high-authority niche links and 1 press release per month
Premiumfrom $1,999/monthBuilt to dominate Google Maps alongside organic, AEO and GEO, with website management, maintenance included. 10 high-authority niche links and 2 press releases per month

Note what is named there. Not “link building included” but five links or ten, and one press release or two. Vague deliverables are how retainers quietly shrink.

Each package covers one Google Business Profile. A business with more than one location pays the package price for each profile it wants managed.

Is cheap SEO worth it?

No — cheap SEO is usually worth nothing, and that is why our entry package starts at $499 rather than $99. Below roughly $400 a month, nobody can afford to do the work, so what you buy instead is a report, a few directory submissions and a monthly email.

Search work costs money because three of its inputs cost money: a person’s time to write and fix things, real links from sites that took years to build, and tools that price per keyword tracked. A $99 retainer covers none of that. It covers the email.

The useful question is not “what is the cheapest” but “what is the smallest package that can actually move my category”. For a single-location business in one suburb, that is often the Starter tier. For anyone competing across the whole metro, it is not.

Which package fits your business

A single-location business targeting one suburb fits Starter, a business competing across several Kansas City cities fits Standard, and a business that needs the map pack in a crowded category fits Premium. The deciding factor is how many places and how many competitors, not company size.

  • Starter, from $499/month — one Google Business Profile, one service area. A dentist in Olathe, a salon in Prairie Village
  • Standard, from $999/month — several cities or several services, and you want AEO and GEO working alongside organic. A contractor covering Johnson County usually fits here; see SEO for contractors
  • Premium, from $1,999/month — a crowded category where the three map pack slots are the whole game. Personal injury, HVAC, roofing, plumbing

If you are not sure which line you are on, that is exactly what the free strategy call is for. We would rather put you on Starter and move you up than sell you Premium you do not need yet.

What changes the price

Five things move a quote: page count, custom functionality, how many cities you target, how competitive your category is, and the current market cost of the components we buy on your behalf. The first four are about your project. The fifth is about the market.

That last one is worth being open about. Link placements, press distribution and tooling are bought at market rates, and those rates move. When they move, our prices move. Kansas City Web Design Pros will not quietly reduce your deliverables to hold a headline number — we would rather tell you the price changed.

Vertical also matters for the search side. A law firm and a florist in the same suburb do not face the same competition, which is why web design for lawyers and web design for plumbers get priced differently even at the same page count.

Costs outside the build fee

Four costs sit outside the one-time website fee, and they are worth knowing before you compare quotes:

  • Domain registration. The domain belongs to you, and it renews with the registrar that holds it.
  • Web hosting. Every website needs a hosting account, the server space where its files live. We host client sites on managed cloud hosting for about $20 a month or $200 a year, billed monthly or yearly, with unlimited traffic, 1 GB of web space and the essentials a small business site needs. Every site also gets a free Positive SSL certificate for life, so it loads over HTTPS. An online store, or any site that takes payments, should add a premium SSL for stronger connection and payment security.
  • Professional photography. Phone photos of real work suit most small business sites. A photographer, when you want one, is a separate cost.
  • Ongoing maintenance. Updates, backups, security and malware removal after launch, from $99 per month, or $999 per year on the annual maintenance plan. The annual plan adds a daily backup and a daily malware scan.

Content writing is not on that list, because it is included in the build. Neither are questions and small fixes after launch: free lifetime support covers them.

One-time fee or monthly retainer: which applies to what

The website is a one-time fee and the search campaign is a monthly retainer — they are separate purchases and they never add into a single number. You can buy the website alone, and add search later or never.

Starts atfrom $499from $499/month
ContractNoneNone — monthly, cancel anytime

A $499 website plus a $499 campaign is not “$998”. It is $499 once, then $499 each month. The estimator above keeps those two figures apart on purpose.

Web design and SEO packages: what a combined package costs

A web design and SEO package is a one-time website fee plus a monthly search campaign, starting at $499 once for the site and $499 a month for SEO. The two are billed separately, so you see exactly what each part costs.

  • Design, one time: from $499 for 5 to 10 pages, from $999 for 20 to 25 pages, from $1,499 for around 50 pages. Content writing and three rounds of revisions are included.
  • SEO, every month: Starter from $499, Standard from $999 (adds AEO and GEO setup), Premium from $1,999 (built for the Google Maps pack).

Design is a one-time fee because a finished site is a finished deliverable. SEO is monthly because ranking work never finishes: new content, links and profile management have to keep happening while competitors keep moving. A typical combined start for a small business is a 5 to 10 page site from $499 plus Starter SEO from $499 a month. Every figure is confirmed at the free strategy call, and the site works on its own if you choose to add AEO and GEO later or never.

DIY builder, freelancer or agency: what each one gives you

Choose a DIY builder when you have more time than budget, a freelancer when you already trust one to be there after launch, and Kansas City Web Design Pros when you want to own the site outright, keep free lifetime support and have SEO structure built in from the first draft. Price is one line of the comparison. The rest is what you are left holding after launch.

None of the three is wrong. A DIY builder suits an owner who enjoys the work and has the evenings for it. The trade-off shows up later, when the site needs fixing, moving or ranking.

How to get an exact quote

  1. Request the free audit using the form on this page. Tell us the site you have now, if any.
  2. Review the audit we send back. It names what is holding the site back, and it is yours whether you hire us or not.
  3. Book the free strategy call. We walk through the findings and the options.
  4. Confirm the figure in writing before anything starts. No work begins on a verbal number.

The free SEO audit, which covers the website and its search performance in one report, and the strategy call are both free. Kansas City Web Design Pros works from 12232 S Blackfoot Dr, Olathe, KS 66062, and serves 36 communities across the Kansas City metro. Businesses outside the metro are welcome too, and meet us by phone, Zoom or Google Meet, by appointment.

Questions to ask any web designer before you sign

Six questions show what a quote actually buys, whoever writes it:

  1. Ask who owns the domain and the finished website.
  2. Confirm which platform the site is built on, and whether you get your own admin login.
  3. Check whether on-page SEO is included or sold later.
  4. Ask what happens after launch, and who fixes things when they break.
  5. Agree how many rounds of revisions the price covers.
  6. Get the timeline in writing, including the day the clock starts.

Kansas City Web Design Pros answers all six up front: you own the domain and the website, most builds run on WordPress so you can edit them yourself, on-page SEO is in the first draft, free lifetime support covers questions and small fixes, three rounds of revisions are included with $50 per hour after that, and a 5 to 10 page site launches within 48 hours of your content arriving.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a website cost in Kansas City?

Website design at Kansas City Web Design Pros starts at $499 for a 5 to 10 page site, $999 for 20 to 25 pages, and $1,499 for around 50 pages. Each is a one-time fee with no monthly contract, and content writing and three rounds of revisions are included.

How much does SEO cost per month?

Search campaigns start at $499, $999 or $1,999 per month, and the exact figure depends on scope and competition. Starter covers local SEO for one Google Business Profile, Standard adds organic SEO with AEO and GEO setup, and Premium targets the Google Maps pack.

Do I have to buy SEO with the website?

No. The website is a one-time fee and works on its own. You can add a search campaign later, or never. Kansas City Web Design Pros keeps the two as separate purchases with separate billing.

Is hosting included in the website price?

No. Hosting is billed separately from the one-time build fee. We host client sites on managed cloud hosting for about $20 a month or $200 a year, with unlimited traffic and 1 GB of web space, and every site gets a free Positive SSL certificate for life. Online stores and sites that take payments should add a premium SSL.

What do web design and SEO packages include?

A combined package pairs a one-time website build, from $499 for 5 to 10 pages, with a monthly search campaign from $499, $999 or $1,999. The site includes content writing and three rounds of revisions. The campaign scope depends on the tier you choose.

Why is your cheapest SEO package $499 and not $99?

Below about $400 a month nobody can afford to do real search work. The inputs cost money: writing time, genuine links, and keyword tracking tools. A $99 retainer buys a monthly report, not a campaign.

Can the price change after I get a quote?

Prices can change with the market cost of components we buy for you, such as link placements and press distribution. Every figure is confirmed at the free strategy call, and nothing starts until you have it in writing.

Is the audit really free?

Yes. Kansas City Web Design Pros provides the audit, one report covering both the website and its SEO, and the strategy call at no cost and with no obligation. The audit findings are yours to keep whether you hire us or not.

Is there a contract or a minimum term?

No. Website design is a one-time fee with free lifetime support. Search campaigns are billed monthly with no long-term contract, so you can stop whenever you choose.
